I think SKIL bill is our only hope. Unlike CIR, it looks like this bill has been introduced in both the houses which is a good sign. This bill has more number of sponsers from the House than in the Senate. That's another good sign.
Senate Bill - S.2691
House Bill - HR5744
Senate Bill - S.2691

yeah its a matter of luck to get a better IO.. I would wait for couple of days before calling them back.. I wonder how they randomly give different wait times.. At the time of opening SR, I was told to wait for 45 days.. other CSR told me to wait for 30 days.. and I see you have been told to wait for 60 days...
but hang in there man.. we will get green soon...
i have an infopass scheduled for 25th... really hoping to get an approval before that..

Congratulations for having the guts to stick it through. Not that it really matters, but I'm curious as to your occupation. I don't think I have much of an appreciation for how certain fields are magnets for unscrupulous employers like the one you described.
Now it is time to celebrate with family and friends, and get back in physical and mental shape. Make sure to get your citizenship then push hard for changes to the system. That's the light at the end of the tunnel for me, also.

Between and Atlas America for covering pre-existing condition, what would you all recommend?
Definitely, Atlas America as it is a comprehensive coverage plan. Where as 's is a fixed coverage plan which only pays a small fraction of the actual expenses.
Altas America covers $15,000 in acute onset of pre-existing conditions, while claims to cover $50,000 in acute onset of pre-existing conditions for $150,000 coverage.
Lets take the example: Person is hospitalized for two days due to acute onset of pre-existing conditions. And the hospital charged $5,000 per day, for a total bill of $10,000. How much would you get covered in each case?
Atlas America: All $10,000 minus the deductible (deductible choices from $0 to $2,500).
KV Rao: $0 That is because the plan covers at $1,900/day for hospitalization. Therefore, the total coverage is $3,800 but you have a $5,000 deductible. Therefore, you get nothing. Tricky, isn't it? It is not what it seems.
Lets say, even for the new condition. You need a surgery that costs $40,000 (not an unrealistic amount). How much would you be covered in case?
Atlas America: All $40,000 minus the deductible that varies from $0 to $2,500.
KV Rao: Even with $150,000 coverage, they cover only $6,000 for surgery. You have to pay $34,000 out of your pocket.
The list goes on regarding how Atlas America is better than KV Rao's.

No this is not rumor but that it is "imminent" is what AILA says as rumor. It could take a couple of months or couple of weeks to be published in the federal register.

First. congrats alterego- 4 yrs after 485 filing is a long long time to go.
Not that I know of. There are two 140 but both have AOS option - Is it normal that 140 application goes back to USCIS office ? AFAIK, there is nothing wrong with my 140 application . It is st. B.Tech+ MS+2 yrs type of case with permanent job (no consulting)

I have done a lot of research on this topic and ended up in taking Tata-AIG. Few tips I can tell:
1. Try a high deductible: It brings down your rate significantly down. The way I saw it is, hopefully nothing will happen to my parents and for small things I have friends who can help them out. If there is something big I can afford a part of it and let insurance take care of rest.
2. have a few extra days than what your parents are coming for: say they are coming for 90 days get one for at least 120 days. Also make sure you get policies which are renewable.
3. Check on the insurance website if it covers hospitals in your area. I looked in one insurance where nearest hospital was 35 miles away from my home.
4. Look for ICU and surgical coverage closely as these two coverages are the most expensive and insurances tend to not cover it.
Hope these helps. Good luck with your parents visit. Let me know if you have questions :)

Introducing the Apple iBOY. Wish I could have spent more time on it, but I'm too lazy ;).
Edit: I just realized this is not really a skin... more of a modification. Is it legal? If not, I'd like to have this entry voided so I can try again hehe.
:thumb: This one's awesome! :D

maybe we should have a 'sounding board' section where such threads can be started where you can cirb all you want about desi companies/consultants and other issues you want to get out of your system. You do realize that many people read these threads. Spritied discussions are great but upto a certain point and if they help the cause.
We are a small community here and all of us are stuck in a problem we DID NOT create. we are a part of a system that is broken. Instead of crying about problems, lets try and figure out ways to solve one for a change.
if people cannot contribute financially, conrtibute your time and talk to people about IV. Try to meet sucessful/influential immigrants and see if they can help us out, see if they can help us with their contacts. Try to seek people who are stuck in this mess and educate them about it. Get leads on people who can help us out.
Start a thread that mentions what you have done to help IV maybe people will learn from that
thanks,

Pappu, your inbox is full and cant take any more messages .. I have a suggestion, there may be members willing to spend time to help at the same time they may not able to spend hours / Daily but hours / Weekly. They probably can be assigned meaningful tasks to help you.
Pappu, pl clean up your mailbox! I sent a Nature article with potetial contacts but the mail bounced back. On a lighter side, at least tell me you are very busy at DC right now and won't be able to do this ;-)
